Call for Information

The Grantham Floods Commission of Inquiry (the Commission) was established under the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1950 to make full and careful inquiry into the flooding of the Lockyer Creek between Helidon and Grantham on 10 January 2011, with specific reference to any natural or man-made features of the landscape which could have altered or contributed to the flooding.

The Commission commenced on 11 May 2015 and also inquired into:

  • whether the existence or breach of the Grantham quarry caused or contributed to the flooding of Grantham
  • whether the existence or breach of the Grantham quarry had a material impact on the damage caused by the flooding of Grantham
  • whether the breach of the Grantham quarry had implications for evacuation of Grantham
  • how these matters were first investigated and how eyewitness accounts were dealt with, particularly by State Government agencies and Emergency Services.

The Commission’s Terms of Reference outline the scope of the inquiry.

The Commission called for information or material relevant to its Terms of Reference. Submissions were accepted for the duration of the inquiry.

The Commission asked that information was provided in line with Procedural Guideline 01-2015 – Providing Information to the Commission.
